Attic mold
Attic Mold Removal in Atlanta, GA
Attic mold usually turns up on a home inspection or when a roofer takes a look up there. We clean the wood and find out why it got damp up there.

Most people never see their attic mold. A home inspector flags it before a sale, or a roofer mentions dark staining on the underside of the decking. Attic mold removal in Atlanta comes up often because our humid summers meet attics that trap warm, wet air. The wood stays damp long enough for growth to spread across the sheathing, sometimes over a whole section of roof.
The cause is usually one of a few things. A bathroom fan venting into the attic instead of outside. Blocked soffit vents that stop air moving. A slow roof or flashing leak. A sweating AC unit or duct. We trace the moisture first, because treating the wood without fixing the cause means seeing it again. Then we set containment around the work area, HEPA vacuum and clean the sheathing and rafters, treat them with an antimicrobial and pull any wet or moldy insulation.
If the fix needs a roofer or an HVAC tech, we'll tell you exactly what to ask for. Selling a home? We put the findings and the work in writing so you have something to hand your buyer. See our main mold removal and remediation page, or read about leaks on our leak detection page.

Real reviews from people we have helped
I had a great experience with Mitigate First. They were professional, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the process. It’s not always easy to find a company you can trust when dealing with water damage, but they made the experience much less stressful. I really appreciate their hard work and would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of their services
Called Mitigate First for a flood restoration job and they were on-site fast, walked me through exactly what needed to happen, and had the water out and the space dried properly without any surprises. Pricing was fair and clear up front — no padding, no change orders. Would use them again and already have them saved as my go-to.
Levi and his team from Mitigation did an awesome job cleaning the mold off my back porch. They even sprayed my attic for prevention of any mold for free. They were very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend them to any of my business associates and family and friends.
Questions
Attic Mold Removal FAQ
What causes mold in an attic in Atlanta?
Usually trapped moisture. Bath fans venting into the attic, blocked soffit vents, slow roof leaks and sweating ductwork are the common ones, and Atlanta humidity makes all of them worse.
Will attic mold stop my home sale?
It can slow one down, but it's a problem you can solve. We assess it, do the work and give you written documentation to share with the buyer and their inspector.
Do you replace the roof decking?
We clean and treat the wood. If decking is rotten or soft, it needs a roofer, and we'll tell you where and can coordinate with one.
Does attic mold need to be removed if it looks old?
Not always. Staining from an old, fixed leak may not be active. We check moisture levels and tell you honestly whether it needs work.
Does insurance cover attic mold?
It depends on the cause. Mold from a sudden, covered roof leak may be included, while ventilation or long-term humidity problems usually are not. Your policy and the cause of loss decide it.
